I got acquainted with Gert van Leeuwen's critical alignment yoga at the Yoga Journal conference in 2011. I was so amazed and impressed by the master's logic when working with the body and by my own sensations from the practice, that I had no doubt - that's what I needed, and I had found what I was looking for. I immediately signed up for the teacher's course. Primarily for my own practice rather than for teaching. However, everything gradually changed.
Gert's personality and his "critically aligned" yoga world captivated me. I liked his sobriety of mind, accurate thinking and clear principles in working with the body. It became obvious to me that I wanted to develop this style in Russia.
For me critical alignment is more than just yoga. It is a beautiful method which allows for deep research of your own movement, your behavioural and psychological patterns, finding your balance, and recovering the often lost connection between a person and their own body. This is the method directed to fulfill one's needs and for developing the skills necessary for healthy and safe movement.
